This policy explains how the Voice Smart iPhone app ("the app", "we", "us") handles information. It also covers this website.
1. What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. The app doesn't ask for your name, email or phone number, has no account system, and contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting SDKs. On the App Store, the app is listed as Data Not Collected.
2. Your recordings and transcripts
- Recording. The app uses your microphone only while you're recording, after you've given permission. You can turn that permission off at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
- Transcription. Speech is turned into text on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Your audio is not sent to us or to any transcription service.
- Storage. Audio files, transcripts, titles and edits are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone. They may be included in your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), depending on your backup settings. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
- Imported files. When you import an audio file, the app makes a copy in its private storage and transcribes it on your iPhone.
- Deleting. Deleted recordings go to Recently Deleted for 30 days, then the audio and transcript are removed for good. You can also remove them immediately. Deleting the app removes its recordings and transcripts from your iPhone.
3. Language models
To transcribe, your iPhone needs Apple's speech model for the language you choose. If it isn't already on your phone, iOS downloads it from Apple. That download is between your iPhone and Apple; it doesn't include any of your audio.
4. Sharing
Nothing leaves the app unless you choose to share or export it. When you tap Share or Export, the text or file goes to the app or person you pick, and from then on it's handled under their privacy terms. Free shares end with the line "Transcribed with Voice Smart"; this is plain text and doesn't identify you.
5. Purchases
Subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple provides the app with a signed record of what you've bought, and the app checks it on your iPhone to turn on Pro. Apple shares sales reports with us that don't identify you.
To keep track of the free plan's weekly limit, the app stores a small counter (the number of free transcripts used this week) in your iPhone's Keychain. It stays on your device, isn't synced, and may remain after you delete the app so the limit can't be reset by reinstalling.
6. Crash reports and statistics from Apple
If you've turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone's Analytics & Improvements settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. Apple also provides aggregated App Store statistics, such as download numbers. None of this includes your recordings or transcripts, and we can't use it to identify you.
7. This website
This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't set cookies and doesn't identify you. It collects anonymous page views: the page you visited, the site that referred you, your country and your device type (such as phone or desktop). We use this only to see which pages people read. The website has no advertising.
Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and to keep the site running.
This applies to the website only. The app doesn't include Vercel Web Analytics or any other analytics, and it still collects no data. Its App Store privacy label, Data Not Collected, is unchanged.
8. Children
The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age where you live).
9. Your rights
Because we don't collect or hold personal data about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on our side. Everything the app stores is on your iPhone and under your control: you can delete it in the app or by deleting the app. If you have questions about your rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, contact us.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is handled, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
